Starting in Sydney Harbour, the fleet heads north to Cabbage Tree Island off Port Stephens before returning south to finish in Sydney. As a Category 2 race, it’s a crucial Hobart lead-up, attracting seasoned offshore crews and competitive Corinthian teams.

Hoisting, trimming and reefing both upwind (main, genoas, and jibs) and downwind sails (poled out headsails, spinnakers, gennakers and code 0’s (subject to weather).

Use of PDF’s (Personal Flotation Devices), PLB’s (Personal Locator Beacons), safety tethers, dan buoy’s, storm drogue, liferaft and any other equipment required to ensure you remain safe in all conditions.

3-4 December 2025

  • 2 days full-day training and preparation aboard the yacht

  • Safety briefings, sail handling drills, watch rotations, and race familiarisation

5-6 December 2025

  • Race start at 13:00 hours on 5th December, depart Sydney Harbour, sail north through Sydney Heads

  • 180‑nautical‑mile offshore challenge to Cabbage Tree Island (near Port Stephens) and back to CYCA

  • Overnight racing expected to conclude in the evening—timing depends on wind and conditions

  • Celebratory finish, prize-giving, and post-race social with the CYCA community
